Which is better: dry or wet machining? | Cutting Tool ...
The main function of MQL is to lubricate the cutting edge. As a result, the machining process consumes only the necessary quantity of oil, and, therefore, the lubrication is more efficient. In addition, the machined workpiece and chips are nearly dry, making part cleaning and chip disposal much easier and quicker.
11.6 Portland Cement Manufacturing
In the wet process, water is added to the raw mill during the grinding of the raw materials in ball or tube mills, thereby producing a pumpable slurry, or slip, of approximately 65 percent solids. The slurry is agitated, blended, and stored in various kinds and sizes of cylindrical tanks or slurry basins until it is fed to the pyroprocessing ...
Guide to the Homogenization of Biological Samples
In its various forms grinding can be used on wet, dry, and frozen samples. A relatively soft sample placed between two hard, scraping surfaces will wear down. With adequate patience, solids can be reduced to very fine particles by grinding, part of which is dependent upon the topology of the grinding surfaces.

The maximum reduction in roughness value is 49 % over dry grinding at work speed of 0.125 m/s and a reduction of 28 % over wet grinding obtained when the DOC is maintained at 40 µm. The work speed of 0.10 m/s produces better surface roughness for both the wheels compared to a work speed of 0.125 and 0.15 m/s.
